Perhaps the most popular item on the Bangkok $1 menu is a choice of meat stir fried with Thai holy basil.

Though it’s possible to just get the dish over a bed of rice, a fried egg on the side is the icing on the cake. That rich runny yolk elevates any plate of pad kra pao to near heavenly status.
