Bua Loy Nam Khing (บัวลอยน้ำขิง)
One of my favorite Thai desserts is something known as bua loy nam khing, which is black sesame filled dumplings swimming in sweet ginger water.
If you’re ever in Yaowarat Chinatown, be sure to stop by this dessert stall for a great bowl of bua loy nam khing.
The stall and dessert is also featured on the Chinatown Bangkok video.

My favorite Thai-Chinese dessert, and acts as a digestive after a heavy meal. Sornthong Pochana, a great restaurant on Rama IV makes a mean one !

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your suggestions in general and for highlighting this great delicacy for any sesame taste lovers !
Would be great if you could list a few more places where to have a good Bua Loy Nam Khing, besides the one in Yaowarat.
I personally always end my meals at Sornthong (Rama IV) with their delicious rendition : very strong ginger tea, not too sweet, homemade black sesame balls.
Keep up with the good work !

Thanks George, glad you like this dessert too! I often just buy it in the neighborhood, but if I find a spot that serves a really good one, I’ll post it!
